For Most Older Computers
IDE 3 1/2" PCMCIA Reader
.
This is for a New Greystone Peripherals PCMCIA Card Reader. This is an IDE drive with 40 pin connectors as shown in the pictures. If you've tried the readers that mount inconveniently in the BACK of the computer without a tray so that when you slide the drive in, CLANG!, the drives drops inside the computer. Not this drive. This looks and operates like a floppy reader. Push your card in on the front of the computer and when done push the convenient release button. Accepts type 1, 2, or type 3 cards. Includes a Required ISA controller card, but no 40 pin IDE cables. Your motherboard must have an available ISA slot. As you see in the pictures there is no power cable required.
Includes a ISA controller card with two interfaces, but no 40 pin IDE cables. If you use the included controller with two 40 pin connectors you'll have two devices which will allow you to access two PC ( type I or II) cards with one reader. Your motherboard must have an available ISA slot for the included controller card. This may work with your PCI controller card, but I haven't tested that. This comes in OEM packages with no instruction manual, or Driver. This will ship Priority Mail in sealed OEM antistatic bags as packed by the manufacturer This item ships without a CD required for your operating system. I tried to present pictures capable of presenting the condition of the item so that you can make your own decision as to whether this is suitable for your project. You can't handle the item, roll it in your hands. At least I try to show in the pictures what you get in this listing. I personally took the pictures of one of the drives out of the lot available.

I answered a question with the following which I repeat here as I get an occasional question about this item. I'm guessing that the IDE cables are used to access the two possible PCMCIA cards that could be plugged into the reader slot, but I have no documentation to be sure of what I say. It's possible that if you only use one IDE cable you could access one of the TYPE slots but not the other. By type I mean Type 1, 2 or 3 that the reader is capable of reading. It's possible that an IDE controller could access both Types by using both possible cables that a controller supports. But I haven't tested that, so can't be sure. What makes it hard for me to understand this reader is that there is no power plug so then it may require two IDE cables to get enough wattage to support the drive.
If you have an integrated IDE controller on the mother board it may support this but you'd need that one to support your hard drive and Optical drive, so I'd guess you'd want to use another IDE controller which is not a major undertaking.
These come in cases of 50 devices and I have multiple banded cases, plus open cases containing 15 or so remaining devices. The cases contain either drives or controller cards so a full case order would require shipping of two cases.
There is no documentation or drivers included.
During the Cov 19 crisis I can't sell internationally as from my experience the packages all get stored in a warehouse in Chicago and the buyer never gets the package! Sorry.
